Letter From The President

Hello and welcome to MiKE!

I’m Zach VanderGraaff, the President of Michigan Kodaly. We are a small but mighty chapter serving all of Michigan as we try to help music educators from all walks of life! Our goal is to provide meaningful, relevant, and fun professional development for the Mitten and beyond.

In our workshops, we try to provide practical help to teachers as developed by Zoltan Kodály in combination with the many methods and cultural advances made in the past 60 years. We hope that we can be of some assistance to you in providing you with helpful resources, quality PD, or just a lending ear in your journey as a music educator.

Joining our mailing list or follow us on Facebook and Instagram for resources, workshops, and other events we may be hosting. We look forward to seeing you at our next event! Whether you are a certified Kodaly teacher or new to Kodaly, there is a place for you here!

Keep on singing!

Zach VanderGraaff

About MiKE

The Michigan Kodaly Educators (MiKE) is a music education group re-formed in 2014. Formerly known as the Southeast Michigan Kodaly Educators (SEMKE) which shut down years prior, MiKE has been working to provide workshops and Kodaly Levels Training for Michigan music education professionals over the entirety of the state.

MiKE is a chapter of the Midwest Region of the Organization of American Kodaly Educators (OAKE).

While the emphasis of the group is on Kodaly-Inspired teaching, all the workshops and sessions apply to any music education philosophy, and the chapter works regularly with other Michigan music education groups and the Michigan Music Education Association.

Chapter workshops are available to non-members and members alike, although members receive a discounted workshop fee. To join OAKE and MiKE at an affordable rate, click the button below.
